PALASBARI,June 15: In a major global recognition for India’s aviation infrastructure, two airports operated by Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) — Navi Mumbai International Airport and Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA), Guwahati have been featured in the prestigious Prix Versailles World’s Most Beautiful Airports List 2026.
The honour marks the first time that two Indian airports have simultaneously secured a place in the globally acclaimed list, which recognises excellence in airport architecture, innovation, sustainability, cultural identity and passenger experience.
Prix Versailles, presented annually at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris since 2015, is regarded as one of the world’s most prestigious awards in architecture and design. The 2026 list also includes airports from Guangzhou (China), Frankfurt am Main (Germany), Kandal Stueng (Cambodia), Pittsburgh (United States), and San Diego (United States).
Navi Mumbai International Airport’s Terminal 1 earned recognition for its lotus-inspired architecture, futuristic design and seamless integration of technology, art and functionality, reflecting India’s aspirations as a modern global economy.
Meanwhile, Terminal 2 of Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport was recognised for its distinctive design inspired by the “Bamboo Orchid,” symbolising the ecological richness and indigenous heritage of Northeast India. The terminal’s biophilic architecture combines sustainability with passenger-centric planning, positioning Guwahati as a key gateway to the Northeast and Southeast Asia.
A spokesperson of Adani Airport Holdings Limited said the recognition reinforces the company’s commitment to building world-class airport infrastructure in India.
“We are honoured to see our airports recognised on a global platform and remain committed to delivering world-class experiences that position India among the leading aviation markets of the world. At Adani Airports, we see airports as important connectors of people and regions,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson further stated that the recognition validates AAHL’s focus on architectural excellence, sustainability, operational efficiency and passenger convenience.
Adani Airport Holdings Limited currently operates eight airports across India, including Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Jaipur, Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram and the newly developed Navi Mumbai airport. The company is also developing integrated Airport City projects aimed at boosting tourism, connectivity and regional economic growth.
