Transport Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary today flagged off six Volvo buses and launched the newly developed android-based ASTC mobile application which will bring ticket booking closer to the consumers.

“The introduction of Volvo service from Guwahati to Shillong and Guwahati to Itanagar has scripted a new chapter in the history of the Assam State Transport Corporation. The dedicated mobile app launched today is just another feather in our cap,” Patowary said speaking at the function organised at ISBT, Betkuchi.

Citizens can now book their tickets at their convenience from anywhere within the State or country for travel within Assam and neighbouring states.

The Minister said that ASTC is committed to improving its services through positive changes in internal governance, infrastructure, IT-enabled services, easy access to public, quality and effective and efficient services.

The Volvo buses will be operated by Chartered Speed Private Limited on PPP mode. Tickets can be booked through the newly launched ASTC mobile application and ASTC website.
