North East Integration Rally Flagged Off from Kolkata, Emphasises Peace, Progress and Prosperity
The North East Integration Rally was formally flagged off from Kolkata on January 4, marking the beginning of a month-long journey aimed at strengthening regional integration, unity, and people-to-people ties across the North Eastern states of India.
The inaugural session in Kolkata witnessed the participation of a diverse group of public representatives, professionals, cultural personalities, and members of civil society, reflecting the inclusive spirit of the initiative. Prominent attendees included A L Hek, Lopamudra Dutta Choudhury, Sukumal Deb, Shanti Kumar Singh, author R K Maheshsena, engineer Tapash Roy, celebrated artiste K Bobin, Kh Gajendra Singh, Sharmistha Raha, Biplab Das, along with an adventure enthusiast and several other distinguished participants.
The programme was compered by Biswadeep Gupta, who outlined the vision and roadmap of the rally. Speakers described the initiative as a modest yet meaningful effort with the potential to evolve into a larger movement for national unity and mutual understanding. Many participants also shared their personal and professional associations with the North Eastern states, underlining the importance of sustained engagement between the region and the rest of the country.
A key cultural highlight of the inaugural event was a special performance by K Bobin, who rendered the official title song of the North East Integration Rally, drawing warm appreciation from the audience.
During the deliberations, speakers reiterated the core objectives of the rally, which include promoting infrastructure development, expanding economic and livelihood opportunities, encouraging cultural exchange, and strengthening people-to-people engagement across states.
Following the Kolkata launch, the rally received a warm welcome at Panihati, where members of Udayer Pathe greeted the participants and expressed strong support for the rally’s mission and vision. The next leg of the rally is scheduled to be held in Malda.
It was also recalled that the pre-launch ceremony of the rally was held on December 24, 2025, at The Countryside Retreat, formally marking the beginning of preparations for the 2026 edition.
Built around the central theme of Peace, Progress, and Prosperity, the North East Integration Rally seeks to draw national attention to development, connectivity, social cohesion, and inclusive growth across the North Eastern region. The rally is scheduled to culminate on February 4, 2026.
