Guwahati boy Adityaraj Sarma bags three gold medal in World Powerlifting Competition

21-year-old Adityaraj Sarma from Guwahati brought laurels to the state as he bagged three gold medals at the recently held World Power Lifting Competition at Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

He won three gold medals under 90 kg junior full Power Lifting event, under 90 kg full Power Lifting open category, and under 90 kg junior category Dead-lift only event.

At 85 kg, he had to do 200 kg squats, 120 kg Bench Press, and 240 kg Deadlift, totaling 560 kg in the drug tested category.

The competition was organized by the World Power Lifting Congress between 12th to 14th November 2021.

Sarma won three gold medals in the following categories:

1. AWPC Drug Tested Under 90 kg Full Raw Powerlifting Junior (20-23 years) Event
2. AWPC Drug Tested Under 90 kg Full Raw Powerlifting Open Age
3. AWPC Drug Tested Junior (20-23 years) Raw Deadlift Only Event

Prior to winning gold at the WPC, earlier he had also won the national gold in powerlifting held at Bangalore this year.

Currently, Sarma is pursuing MA in history from Delhi University. He also passed out from Ramjas college, Delhi university with first class in history honors.
