Assam, Meghalaya form joint panel to resolve interstate taxi disputes

GUWAHATI: The governments of Assam and Meghalaya have agreed to form a joint panel to address grievances raised by cab operators and resolve disputes affecting interstate taxi services between the two states.

The decision follows complaints from taxi operators over operational difficulties and regulatory differences while travelling between Assam and Meghalaya.

The proposed panel will include officials from both state governments along with representatives of the taxi industry. It will serve as a platform to discuss the concerns of operators and work towards practical solutions.

The move is expected to help streamline interstate taxi operations and ensure smoother travel for passengers, particularly along the busy Guwahati-Shillong route.

The two governments have also stressed the need for coordination to prevent such disputes from disrupting interstate transportation and tourism between the neighbouring states.
